Speaking to VentureBeat, Sega US president Simon Jeffery has said he believes no one’s satisfying the Wii-owning hardcore. We have a hunch he may be right.

“The Wii is a great opportunity for hitting hardcore gamers,” he said. “No one is doing that.

“With “Mad World” from Platinum Games, we are trying to show that millions of Wii games want to move on to mature games. They don’t have to have an Xbox 360 to do that.”

It’s not just the hardcore stuff lacking on Wii, though. There’s “good” games in general.

“There is a lot of crap coming out for the Wii in general,” Jeffery added. “But if it’s not a good game, it doesn’t sell. That flood of crap will die down as publishers become more coherent.”

YAY!!! I like that talk. Mad World has just moved up on my list.

Sega is pushing some hardcore games out and yes...they will try to build the hype that wii is harcore gaming Nirvana...as this benefits them and their future hardcore games.

I wouldn't call the wii as a system with great opportunity for hardcore games but maybe these sega games, along with others coming out fill that void and actually sell well.

He just sold a few copies by saying that, I just hope they live up to the talk so I can buy a copy.

Still disolitude with it's user base it has to be tempting for them.

I hope Kotaku posts this. I'd love to see them going mad (ok, they are mad just about everything).

But nice to see someone is getting the grip of it, but it's also quite telling what Sega thinks about their own titles.

The Rockstar would probably hang themselves, since they pretty much ignore the wii sans for a few halfarsed ports

They are 100% correct, most publishers are releasing crap on the Wii and are not coherent at all.

The secret to hitting hardcore gamers is to give them an intense two player co-op game from one console. They're bound to smack each other over the head with the wiimote a couple of times.
