Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Wii owners, what would online play for WiiSports Resort mean to you?

Online game?? Wii sports is THE Wii game that makes the Wii the number one choice when playing with friends. But I think it would be pretty sad to stand alone before the TV playing it with some online adversaries.

Wii Sports Resorts will just be a collection of mini games aka demos which are meant only to show the power of MP. Don't expect much from that mini games but you can expect that some of them will become full games which might contain online play.

I know :(

But all the cool games have it :(

I cant believe I broke my own rule.

Thank you everyone in here for setting me straight.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

Nothing, if I would buy the game, I would do it for the Jetski part alone.

This.  Also I would buy it for the fencing.

Pixel Art can be fun.

FENCING FTW! I wouldn't mind online, but I can easily life without it, I have tons of friends who I can play this with.

I'd love it. My kids would love it.

They need to release an online/Wii Speak enabled Wii Sports just for Virtual Bowling Leagues.

It is a possibility that this game will have online capabilities, but i doubt it will be enough to suffice your craving desires.

Stat tracking won't be in.
Voice chat might.
Friend Codes will be there.

The only game i could see online play work for is the fencing game. But we haven't seen all the mini-games yet, so i guess the other games might show more promise.

EDIT: I don't see how Nintendo couldn't 'milk' the Wii ____ franchaise.

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is the best Zelda title ever made.

Really, just about any game which isn't story-driven could be improved with online play. There's no reason why local multiplayer should have to be sacrificed.

Captain Obvious tells me that any game which is focused on multiplayer becomes much less fun when multiple players aren't available. Sure, Wii Sports is more fun with local multiplayer. All games are. Even with the PC, king of online multiplayer, gamers gather at LANs to get a local experience and have a blast. Online multiplayer just bridges the gap when people can't gather.

I would love to be able to play Wii tennis or Wii boxing online, and I expect I'll feel the same about several Wii Sports Resort games.

Though this does not really affect me, I must say that with sports games in general, and other games which are more 1 or 2 vs 1 or 2, they are better when you are playing against the person on the sofa with you, so the offline mp is definitely more important for these types of games, though i am sure that the online will have a positive effect especially with wii talk

Nothing really. Wii Sports isn't a game about online. Online play, for instance, would not help the game at all. It's a game I would play with my friends and family in the same living room, not with a guy thousands of miles away.

I'm only getting this for the frisbee game, however, I think my friends will enjoy the fighting game, more.
