Switch 1 & 2 have been my go to place for Indie games. But I used to have a method to save a boatload on the eShop. I would buy $100 gift cards from Costco for $90 and then have my cousin who lives in Washington state buy the games on the eShop to avoid sales tax, and then wait for a sale, and also get the 5% coin refund from Nintendo. But now that the 5% back is gone and I don't have many more PS5 games to buy I'm slowly transitioning into a physical Indie game buyer. Game Key Cards are helping with that as well IMO.

I already buy indie/AA games that interest me physically if they are game card releases, such as Mouse PI for Hire, Hades II, and soon Orbitals.
I buy Nintendo's games and AAA ports physically where it's an option, such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Indiana Jones.

Well, I usually buy indie games for 5 - 15 bucks. Putting them on an expensive Switch 2 cartridge + cover + shipping + a profit margin for the retailers results in a price of at least 25 - 30 bucks.
AAA games are much better suited for physical releases than small indie games.

I definitely feel you there. Hollow Knight is $15 on the eShop and $40 physically.

This is already my M.O.
My physical Switch 2 collection is primarily Nintendo-published games games, AA games, and indie games. And there are several more on the horizon: Lies of P, Silksong, Blue Prince, Citizen Sleeper 2, Dave the Diver, etc.
I’ll continue to buy indie games during Steam sales like the vast majority of the market
