Forums - Microsoft - Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass Price Lowered, Removes Day One Call of Duty Titles

https://www.vgchartz.com/article/467596/xbox-game-pass-ultimate-and-pc-game-pass-price-lowered-removes-day-one-call-of-duty-titles/

Microsoft has announced it is lowering the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

The price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate will go from $29.99 to $22.99 a month, while PC Game Pass will drop from $16.49 to $13.99 a month. Prices may vary by region.

In order to justify the lower price, starting this year future Call of Duty titles will no longer join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass at launch. New Call of Duty titles will be added to the two tiers during the following holiday season, which would be around a year after launch. Existing Call of Duty titles already in the library will continue to be available.

"Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will continue to have access to hundreds of games on Xbox console and PC including current Call of Duty titles, in-game benefits, online console multiplayer, and major day one releases," reads the announcement.

Asha is great, the Sarah Bond lovers must hate it.

When things are removed from subscriptions like this I always wonder what the legal rights are. Like people can pay in advance for GP up to 3 years, expecting CoD, and now no longer get CoD lol.

Especially crappy if they stacked paying the higher price lmao. Because now they get the same service as the new lower price.

I hope people didn't stack it to the max at 3 years at the $30 price tag. I just checked and at least for me my Game Pass Ultimate still runs out on the same date as before - September 8, 2028. Though, I had it maxed out thanks to Microsoft Rewards BEFORE the $30 price tag.

Overall, I think this is a good move. Microsoft has more data than we have and they probably saw the lost revenue from CoD day one and the number of people unsubbing when they increased it to $30 a month was not worth it.

This is as long as they keep every other game day one on Ultimate and it is ONLY Call of Duty removed. I guess the big test for this would be Elder Scrolls 6.

I'm sure most would rather have this outcome than what we had previously. COD is just one game, and if not having that one game day one gets the prices down then most would be OK with it. COD will still release on Game Pass just a year later and current CODs on Game Pass aren't being removed. A lot of people don't care for COD and we saw the backlash on the $30 Ultimate sub, so I think this was the right call.
