japan, we really need you to come through and buy a few more switches. what can we do to help the cause?

Total Championships: Nintendo - 4, Sony - 2, Atari - 1, Microsoft - 0, Sega - 0

Super bold is right since it's declining too fast for that to happen. Nintendo should ship only a few hundred or so thousand units to Japan next year and then basically nothing 2027 onward.

You should have just gone for a cool 50 million units. The odds of you being correct are the same.

Ok, then.

Since PS5 was beaten in 2025 by the Switch despite the presence of Switch2, your argument that Switch1 will only sell a few hundred thousands of units in 2026 then nothing at all in 2027 should apply first to PS5.

36.4m sold-through as of end of 2025. 1.5m sold-through last year, with a 50% drop YoY. I don't see any scenario where it hits 40m.

Shipments are of course slowing even faster, first 3 quarters of 2025 are 60% lower than first 3 quarters of 2024. Obviously as a system nears its end the gap between Sell-through and Shipped begins to fall, so they will ship less than they sell-through.

They have actually sold-through less by the end of 2025 than they had shipped by the end of 2024.

Well, no because this thread is not about the PS5 at all, it's about Switch sales. Weird post.

We're talking here about sales. So his logic on sales can only be applied to Switch and NOT to PS5 despite the fact that Switch is still selling better week after week?

He never mentioned PS5 at all. This thread is about if the Switch can hit 40m in Japan. PS5 sales are irrelevant to the topic.

As Zippy said I dunno why you brought up the PS5 since this thread is about the Switch but no it should not apply first to that since they're in very different situations. The Switch is replaced and Nintendo clearly doesn't care about selling it any more thus it's declining very fast whereas the PS5 will be Sony's main platform for at least another couple years so they'll probably sell a similar amount this year but not in 2027.
