Forums - Sales - Famitsu Sales: Week 48, 2025 (Nov 24 - Nov 30)

.
Famitsu's sales rankings. This time, we bring you a summary of estimated weekly sales figures for game software and hardware from November 24th to November 30th, 2025 in Japan.

Mario Kart World is doing well, taking the top spot for the 15th time and the first time in seven weeks. The game released a free update version 1.4.0 on December 3, 2025. A wide range of adjustments have been made including the implementation of an "item switch" function that allows you to set the items that appear, changes to some course layouts and changes to the online battle specifications allowing players to enjoy gameplay with greater freedom than ever before.

Coming in second place is Kirby Air Riders, which was ranked first last week. This title has also been well-received as it holds in-game events where participants are given rewards. These types of initiatives are generating buzz and it seems likely that sales will continue to grow in the future.

Also this week, the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch versions of Pokemon Legends ZA and Momotaro Dentetsu 2 both ranked high and are showing steady sales.

Ow, the Switch 2 lost its 100k+ strike. At least the Switch 1 went beyond 30k, which is impressive.

Another decent week for the PS5.
It even managed to barely edge out switch 1.

Low Switch 2 sales, which point towards Nintendo prioritizing profit margins over shipments to Japan. This would point toward December being fairly tepid in Japan with Nintendo instead prioritizing shipments to better profit margin markets.

Yes, I definitely see this happening, mainly because it was Black Friday week, and we already know the Switch 2 was the best-selling SKU in the US this week.

Yep, they're intentionally limiting supply because it doesn't make them any money for the price they're selling it in Japan, actually I suspect they're losing money for every Switch 2 sale in Japan.

You think Nintendo is selling switch 2 at a loss in Japan?

Why?!

It's ~340 USD in Japan. This is a whole 25% less than USA

Because all the components they buy to produce Switch 2 are bought in dollar amounts, and in Japan they sell the Switch 2 at 49k-53k in yen value, and the yen is a very weak currency. So the end result is likely that they sell it at a loss in Japan. The same will be true for Sony and their current 55k yen price in Japan, which means i don't think Sony will be supplying big volumes to Japan in the future due to them likely not wanting to lose too much money supplying the Japanese market.
