Forums - Indie - Mouse: P.I. for Hire — Most visually interesting indie I’ve ever seen

What are your thoughts? I’ve known about this game’s existence for a while, but was only just reminded of it recently.

I have my eye on it as well, both for its visual style and also cos I'm a big fan of these old school retro FPS titles.

Nice to see games trying something a bit different.

Cuphead could have brought a revival of pre-WW2 animation styles, as it's art style has been very well received. This one looks like early Merry Melodies with a bit less wackiness (going by the trailer, no talking plants or objects), while Cuphead looked more like Betty Boo in Technicolor. And I dig it, both the art style and the fact that it's an old-school shooter, not the bland hero/looter shooters that get pumped out so much these days.

A longer look at the game in action:

The game releases on the 19th of March on Switch 1 and 2, PS4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, and PC.

Well, reviews are in: 81 MC & 83 OC. Solid scores! Granted, you should ALWAYS take aggregate review scores with a grain of salt, though it does signal that perhaps the game has stuck the landing. I’ve also read +20hr content… which, yeah, that’s pretty jam packed for your standard indie game.

The game is getting a physical version July 10th that will include a proper Game Card release for Switch 2:

That’s cool! Though know how much more expensive physical is than digital (often times its more than double the price, e.g. Bubsy 4D, Super Meat Boy 3D, etc.), I honestly don’t care enough to drop the cash. Almost feels like a scam TBH.

…Sorry for going off on a tangent lol!

Game cards aren't cheap to make, IIRC they cost $16 a pop even before the memory crisis, probably much more now, so it kinda makes sense.

Yeah no doubt, it makes total sense… though I’d rather just pick up the game digitally at that point. It’s cool up until Bubsy 4D goes from costing $17USD on Steam to $50USD on NS2.

Yeah it's not ideal, but it's good that we at least have the option; I don't mind paying more for a physical copy if it's something I really want, I'd prefer that over it being digital only or a game key card.
