Forums - Sales - Will Pokémon Legends Z-A sell better on Switch 1 or 2?

I think it will sell better on:

Switch 1 19 47.50%

Switch 2 21 52.50%

Total:40

Pokémon Legends Z-A releases this October as a crossgen game on the original Switch and Switch 2.

Today it was announced there will be a Switch 2 console bundle.

Do you think the game will sell better on Switch 1 or 2, and what is your reasoning for your prediction?

The original switch will sell more. Out of sheer difference in numbers and the fact that, by the time Switch 2 starts getting a big enough userbase to follow the original's sales, there will be another pokemon title, so it will cut its legs somewhat short.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Switch 1. Pokemon games don't have great legs, 90% of sales will be within the first year

Would have been nice if it was a custom colored NS2. Also, i saw the video last night on youtube from IGN, and the game looks really really bad :(. I love pokemon, but this game looks horrible, I hope it doesnt sell well so that they will put more effort into their games. Not sure why Nintendo is pleased with this, look at DKB and then look at this game :(

Guessing Switch 2 with this being a system seller just before Christmas and Switch 2 already having an established user base.
People will prioritise getting this for Switch 2, and it will be an evergreen until shortly after the next major Pokemon game comes out.
Will sell well on both though.

Just watched a video of the game...it looks pretty dang uninteresting. Man, Nintendo really needs to bring down the hammer on Gamefreak and do something about the series. Can Nintendo use their massive profits from last gen to just buy off Gamefreak already and put a great team on the Pokemon series?! I was bored even just watching a four minute video of the game.

Anyway, since it doesn't look that interesting I don't see it being a must-have game for the early buyers of the new system, so I think the massive userbase on Switch will make this game sell more on Switch than Switch2.

I wouldn't underestimate the appeal of Pokémon; Scarlet/Violet was a technical disaster but still one of the highest selling games on Switch, and the Switch 2 version offers the first chance to play a modern Pokémon game with decent performance.

Probably the sswitch 1. Hell i'm might even get the switch 1 version despite having a switch 2 just cause i think the switch 2 edition box arts are ugly as shit. But most likely, it will mostly be switch 1, since pokemon is a series with a casual appeal, then as time passes, people will get switch 2s and the upgrades witll be bought or the switch 2 edition itself will be bought.

I think it will sell a bit better on the Switch 1 (Mostly because Pokemon is disproportionally popular in Japan were the Switch 1 user base dwarfs Switch 2 user base by orders of magnitude). The Switch 2 bundle will make sales pretty close though, 55-60% Switch 1 sales to 40-45% Switch 2 sales wouldn't be impossible to happen. I expect die hard Pokemon fans to get the game on Switch 2 while more casual Pokemon fans get it on Switch 1.
