No Hogwarts Legacy this year led to huge drops. Here's hoping for some Helldivers/RoTR/FFVII boost in March.

This was the month where PS5 stocks finally arrived in drove, coupled with the release of Hogwarts Legacy.
It was not go na be spared of YoY down like this. HellDivers II surprise run kinda saved the software chart too.

Anyway, Barely less than 100K consoles sold isn't exactly great.

No it didn't.  The article makes a point about it being a relatively small drop despite Hogwarts due to Helldivers which launched in February.  Unless you are referring exclusively to hardware.

"It's a hugely impressive performance for a relatively unknown franchise. To put its success into context, the game's first three weeks on sale is only 28% lower than what Sony's Spider-Man 2 achieved during its first three weeks on sale last year."

So yes its a massive unmitigated and completely unexpected mega hit. I think the real question is how do evaluate future projects when you have one project costing 315 million to make and another costing 50 million to make. So the caveat is that Spiderman is clearly more profitable because of the slightly higher volume and higher MSRP but when it comes to ROI or Return on Investments, Helldivers blows Spiderman out of the multiverse. Which is better?

I think ROI is better at lower investments and clearly straight profit will trump anything. Like if GTA 6 cost a billion but makes 3 billion, its ROI will be less than Helldivers 2, but at those numbers no one cares (Tippling 1 billion is better than quadrupling 500 million...).

To clarify I meant hardware (PS5 and XB to a lesser extent). It's 28% down but last year it was like 27% up month on month due to HL, so it would be more like just a 8% drop even if last February had been flat.

Considering how massive last February was for the PS5 only a 28% drop is great. I wonder if some of the decline for Xbox is due to all the bad PR the brand got last month.

The UK is in a recession last time I read the news.
