Frequently Asked Questions:

Q - When does voting close?
A – Final Voting closes on 31st December, 2023.

Q - Can I change my vote/edit my voting form after submitting it?
A - Yes, you can edit your voting form up until we close voting.

Q - Do I have to select a game for every award?
A - Nope. Select your favourite for as many or as few categories as you wish.

Q - Why can’t I vote for game XXXXXXX?
A – Unfortunately it didn’t make the cut during Preliminary Voting!

Q – I’d like to see an award for Best XXXXXX, it’s a shame you don’t do one.
A – Let us know in the comments; we’re always open to suggestions, especially for new or replacement categories.

Q – How is the winner in each category determined?
A – By a mixture of community and staff voting, weighted 50/50. On the community side we use the Google Form that’s linked above, while on the staff side we vote individually on the staff forums. The staff’s results are converted into percentages for each game in each category. These percentages are combined with the percentages from the community’s results, with the total then being divided by two to get an average. This average determines both the final Shortlist of games to be featured in each award article and the Winners themselves.

Q - When and how will the Winners be announced?
A – Winners will be announced in a series of articles (as well as a thread I'll post) that we'll start publishing in early January.

It’s an easy pick for me…and I’m excited to see the results. :)

Voted for the first time for this! Left a few off as I didn't play any games in those categories. Can't wait to see the results!

Protesting the GOTY question because Hi Fi Rush wasn't an option!

I didn't expect many votes for it but Bomb Rush Cyberfunk is my GOTY. I have waited 20 years for a sequel to JSRF and it came and was worth the wait unlike Shenmue III.

24 hour warning - voting closes in ~24 hours!

Honest question: Who was surprised that Sea of Stars was good? Pretty much anyone who cares about retro inspired games had been hyped about that one since it was announced.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

3DS, DS, GBA, Vita, PSP, Android

Also, voting for these can be kinda weird becuase I agree that Baldur's Gate is definitely game of the year but I still voted for Final Fantasy XVI because it hit me personally more than any other game this year.

Depends on how someone measures it on their surprise spectrum imo.  Maybe many users anticipated it to be good, but were blindsided by it being a their favorite RPG of the year.

Not played Sea of Stars. (Yeah I get it trying to sound like Star Ocean) I like the genre but don't like that game's aesthetic at all. Also last time an indie western take on the JRPG formula came out and was highly praised. I was burned. Scorched. The game was a massive massive pile of shit dripping in vomit. Pier Solar. Different devs and all I know. Just Octopath or Star Ocean 2nd story remake seem like better options if looking for that older feel RPG.
