Why did the PS5 have such a massive drop in the last weeks? Is there any stock issues?
Sorry if the question is easily answered, just don't keep up with this stuff anymore.

From my understandings, which could be totally incorrect as I'm just basing this off of what I've read on the Famitsu pages, Sony stopped producing the thicker/bigger PS5s in favor of the newer, slightly smaller PS5s. They also set a firm release on when that transition would happen. The theory is stores ran out of the older model but aren't yet allowed to release the slim models, despite having them in the back of the stores waiting for that release date, thus leading to a gap in sales.

That's horrible timing if true, lol, thanks.

Looking at the article Famitsu has 5 weeks for October, while for us we have 4 weeks. We match what Circana (NPD) does with having March, June, September, and December as the months with 5 weeks. The Famitsu period is for September 25 to October 29. While for us it is October 1 to October 28.

Thank you very much, @trunkswd!

Considering Sony officially announced its new and slimmer PS5 model on October 10th, 2023 for a launch in November 2023, these estimates for the "fat" PS5 still look pretty good.

I suspect that Sony will a) make up for the amount by which sales fell in October in November and b) will have +25% higher sales than in November '22.
