Forums - Sales Discussion - Console Hardware Sales for Spain 2018

https://vandal.elespanol.com/noticia/1350718078/playstation-4-ha-sido-la-consola-mas-vendida-de-2018-en-espana/

Units sold during 2018 in Spain:

PlayStation 4 ~650.000

Nintendo Switch ~390.000

Nintendo 3DS ~75.000

Xbox One ~73.000

This sales are truly incredible to me. The PS4 outsold the Xbox One by 9:1. I think this just highlights how Sony's approach of providing top quality exclusives vs the MS approach is sending the brands in opposite directions. It won't be pretty next gen.

Other then that the Switch was far behind the PS4 but it's numbers we're still healthy. However the gap in Spain pretty much cancelled out the gap in the US which is food for thought.

Last but not least the 3DS outselling the XB1 is a strange sight.

How were 2017 numbers by comparison? Because I expect the gap between PS4 and the rest to have been even larger in 2017 than in 2018.

Edit: According to a post in the link, Switch total sales are at 730K, meaning Switch sold 340K last year, so an almost 15% increase over last year.

Here's the post in question, with totals for all platforms, even older ones:

PS3 - 3,000,000
PS4 - 2,900,000
PSP - 2,400,000
PS Vita - 700,000 Approx

NDS - 4,500,000
3DS - 2,100,000 Approx
Wii - 2,800,000
WiiU - Approx. 250,000
Switch - 730,000

Xbox 360 - 1,150,000
Xbox One - 378,000

Those sales are normal. Here in Spain, If it wasnt for FIFA...

It's very difficult for the XBOne to make itself a place on Sonyland, especially outside of the UK. The Playstation has become synonymous with gaming here, with Nintendo handhelds being a close second. I do find interesting how close the 3DS and the XBOne are in terms of sales, though, considering how old the 3DS is at this point. Budget consoles do have a place in the market after all...

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Pretty sure 300k has been the number used for Spain in 2017. Not sure where the poster gets 340k from.

It's quite amazing the damage that the always online policy and the higher price point due to Kinect did to the Xbox brand in Spain. It has sold less than 1/3 of what the 360 did.

And I doubt MSoft will ever manage to recover from that, unless Sony screws it big time again.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

As expected, congrats Sony.

My own calculation, since if 730K total and 390K this year are both correct, then 730K -390K=340K

Yeah all my life playstation consoles have been king and Nintendo portables very popular too. Xbox surged during the 360 days and became a threat but they pissed that all away and if Sony play their cards right they'll have no chance of getting it back.

Yeah I'm not questioning your math skills, they are correct ;) Spain LTD is 690k which is why I'm questioning why the original poster says that it's 730K LTD when what we know it's 300k for 2017. Not 340k.
