Forums - Politics Discussion - Debate on Saudi Arabian Prince Mohammed Bin Salman

One side debated that MBS was benevolent and progressive, while the other (Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi) claimed there wasn't truth to this. Unfrotunately, it appears Khashoggi was proven more correct than he would ever believe. He was confronted by a team of 15 agents working for Saudi Prince Mohammed Bin Salman about a week ago inside the Saudi Arabian consulate in Turkey. That was the last time anyone had heard from Khashoggi. His girlfriend waited for him outside of the building, he had gone in to get a marriage certificate.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I don't see how people could remotely defend MBS.
There's the arbitrary arrests in Saudi Arabia, the bloody and brutal war crimes and Yemen and desire for control of the Middle East.

I was disgusted when he did a celebrity tour around the United States and celebrities and educated tech leaders treated him like the second coming of Christ.
Now the world is opening its eyes to who MBS truly is.

West worships money. They’ll treat anyone who’s rich as the second coming of Christ. These new developments won’t change anything.

Saudi Arabia was never reformed and it never will be. -_-

Everything can change with enough time.

The USA has money ties.... supposedly Trump has too, so nothing will happend.
So even if you heard Trump condem it... no action will come of it.

They have head decades upon decades to change, and the most they've done is letting women actually drive. That's it. Everything else about their human rights record is deplorable, as far as I remember. The fact that Bin Laden was Saudi Arabian only makes it worse, even 17 years later.

And it can take much more time to change for the better but that doesn't mean it's hopeless,i am happy women can drive now cause its a step in the right direction.

I'm actually inclined to agree.

Well, at least the Western press will stop acting like MBS is a god.

Then why are they still having journalists assassinated? It's obvious that's what they did to Jamal Khashoggi. He must've said something that offended the Saudi crown, so they silenced him.

Because a country or state does not change what it is overnight and did not become what it is overnight.

At least we had a positive thing happening and we will see how it progresses beyond that.

I have to say, Turkey had detained that American Pastor months ago and refused to release him. The timing of is release could not have been more perfect and calculated.

You mean so Erdogan can cover his own ass?

You can oversimplify and misinterpret it any way you wish, the fact is such a move will go a long way in  securing American diplomatic support against the Saudis.
