Team Ico will finally release The Last Guardian this October after years in development and swtiching platforms. Regardless of how the game sells do you think Sony has already decided to close down the studio. They did not release a game the entirety of the PS3 generation (unless you count the HD collection). Sony recently shut down Evolution and other more prolific devs like Studio Liverpool have also got the axe. Do you think the writing is on the wall?

A lot of former Team Ico staff, including Ueda himself, have started their own company, genDESIGN. I imagine the remaining team members will be absorbed into Japan Studio, and the studio will be no more.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did. If it took them this long to make a single game then imagine how long it will take them to make another one.

Plus, imagine if when the Last Guardian releases the reviews for it aren't even good or like you said maybe it doesn't sell well. All that wait for this game and it ends up like that. I don't expect it to be bad or anything, I personally think it looks great, i'm just saying imagine that scenario though, I can't see Sony being happy about that at all if it were to happen.

It'll probably be set to smaller projects, merged into other groups, or just be dissolved. After how long TLG has taken, I dunno if they'll trust the team with anymore big projects.

Seeing how the lead guy had already left, you could say Team Ico is already gone.

They're already dead. TLG is just rage on Sony's part because they didn't want the past decade of development on it to be a waste. There's no way Sony will sit there and wait until 2026 for the next ico game.
