Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo of America: "Grab a Wii U while you can"

Make sense, the WiiU section in my local Gamestop is pretty much non existent. The 3DS is more bigger then the WiiU.

Here a little quote I want for those to keep memorize in your head for this coming next gen.

You are completely wrong.

The prices for te Wii U are only going up. You don't find anything under 300€ new now, and soon all the left Wii U will be selling around 350€.

The Wii U is going to achieve collector status very soon and the price for this rare console will climb very high. Already people who were hloding out for a price cut have gave up their hopes. The price is only growing at this point.

Indeed. No real price cut will come. Nintendo is still losing money so will sell the Wii U for as high as they still can. Retailers may do some discounts, but it won't be much in my opinion.

I might buy a collecter one if a limited Zelda bundle comes out :p.

Not since 13/14.

Come on... They're profiting, profit was fairly down but still profit, where did you see the loss, are you sticked to  FY12- first half of CY14!

As for the wii u price, if they cut it they may lose money, and that due to the overly high cost of the tablet controller, perhaps they could do a moderate one, but profit would be abated, something that Nintendo doesn't want! Nintendo is increasing wii u price, exhibiting their desire of squeezing wii u profit...

Not for that price. Maybe when it gets down to $199.

Pretty much this for me.

Also when he says that fans should buy one now... really does the think that there are Nintendo fans who have been on the verge of buying it for the last 4 years but now that they are pulling the plug on the tiny amount of support that the system has gotten he thinks that it would be a good time to jump in? Like... how much buyers remorse does he want to give his "fans" who are already clearly not brand loyale enough to have purchased the system already? Insane.

That would be possible if they had dropped the tablet, and its too late to do it  now... 199$ including the tablet  means that nintendo will be losing 30$ for every wii u unit sold, if not more... ( there other extra costs, like packaging )

Without the tablet we could be seeing 149-169$ prices, nowadays!

The only person you are convincing is yourself-   I would say you are the definition of "sophmoric" but I don t think you beleive in your own bs

It is clear what Nintendo communicated to anyone over 10 (and most under 10)  except yourself-

I'll try it one last time to explain why you and others are wrong. First, here is Nintendo's official statement:

"Though I cannot confirm when it will be launched or any other details of the system, since I have confirmed that it will be 'a dedicated video game platform with a brand new concept,' it should mean that we do not intend it to become a simple 'replacement' for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U," Iwata explained.

Now comes an analogy. Suppose Nintendo said this about the new Zelda (obviously not an actual quote):

"Since the next Zelda will use a much more non-linear structure, it won't be an easy game."

That doesn't mean that Zelda won't be a game, despite the words "won't be a game" being somewhere in the statement. Likewise, Iwata's quote isn't a denial of a replacement, it's a denial of a specific kind of replacement, just like the Zelda quote I made up.

Once again you try to brand me as a fanboy or simpleton, but you have to consider that my interpretation of Iwata's statement (which I've held since the moment the statement was made) leads to the inevitable conclusion that the Wii U will be dead as soon as NX launches. That contradicts the wishes of a fanboy. My interpretation of the quote is also in line with what was going to happen all along, so my ability to comprehend words is perfectly fine.

You and others who are arguing against this have a history of looking for reasons to bash Nintendo. Maybe you specifically are just angry at yourself for being unable to comprehend Iwata's quote and seriously expecting further Wii U support, and now are unable to admit it, so you try to put the blame on Nintendo despite a complete lack of statements that would support your interpretation that Wii U and NX would exist side by side. Feel free to make a thread to say that you expected Wii U games from Nintendo after NX launch. Be warned though, because people will laugh at you for holding such a belief when there were no reasons and indicators to believe so.

if you are saying Nintendo was doing its usual lying to ts customer base - ill go with that-   but it is clear what they said-   to anyone that does not worship at Alter Nintendo- (and even many that do)

I wonder how much Wii U consoles will cost 15 years from now...

Seriously. Considering how much NES games and such can go for, especially if still brand new and not opened, if you bought a brand new Wii U and kept it in the box and never opened it how much could it go for 10-15 years from now

Wait for another 5 years and you can have full Wii U emulation on PC (already its running few games at full speed) in almost every PC (may be mobiles too).

GAMING is not about spending hours to pass/waste our time just for fun,

its a Feeling/Experience about a VIRTUAL WORLD we can never be in real, and realizing some of our dreams (also creating new ones).

So, Feel Emotions, Experience Adventure/Action, Challenge Game, Solve puzzles and Have fun.

PlayStation is about all-round "New experiences" using new IP's to provide great diversity for everyone.

Xbox is always about Online and Shooting.

Nintendo is always about Fun games and milking IP's.

I think there is more damage being done currently to the Nintendo console brand than a $30 loss per system sold right now, that said I don't think the Wii U could ever really have been sold without the tablet, the majority of games require it in some way... or ya know it's the systems controller anyway, would be like suggesting you could sell the PS3 at a bigger profit if you remove the CELL from each unit.

With the 3ds they were able to remove an aspect of the system to cut the price in the 2ds, but I think removing the tablet from the Wii-U would be like trying to repackage the 3ds without a screen altogether.

Ah, you took a deeper look into it. It's crazy to think that nintendo is charging what they are compared to the competition and the fact that their console is their worst selling ever. Since the NX is right around the corner and nintendo is not doing any deals, retailers are likely to give the console away to clear inventory. I doubt they'll sell half of it before nx hits shelves to be honest.

Also think about it this way, they've been left with a ton of pretty much unsellable Wii-U models now, with no rebate from Nintendo they're left with the choice of either holding onto the worthless stock or else taking the hit from it themselves and reducing the price. Considering Nintendo isn't exactly great at PR this could be a bad move when it comes to convincing stores to even begin ordering in the NX system, once bitten twice shy and all that.

But yeah when you look at that X1 model with Ori and it has the Rare Replay collection with it, I mean that is 31 games, some of the rare replay stuff are full X360 games too, so absolutesly tons to do with the system for €70 less than the price of the Wii-U, also Argos have an offer of €12 for 3 months of Xbox live with a new console, so if you get that as well you'll have 6 more titles from the Games with Gold on the X1, so a far more powerful console with 36 more games... for €56 less. And the obvious fact that the X1 has a future where as the Wii-U clearly hasn't had one for some time.

Would be an insane time to decide to buy a Wii-U now imo.

I agree. Retailers at the very least will be hesitant with the NX because they'll likely lose money trying to sell the rest of their wii u stock. Maybe small shipments of it at first.

To be honest, I think this is just either Nintendo being desperate or subtly letting us know that NX won't be natively backwards compatible (if at all).

I still have my launch Zombi U bundle, so I think I'll be alright. I'd rather have a BC NX though.

Wait, so you're predicting the Vita will not sell another 100k? Um, ok. Care to make a bet on that?
