Also when he says that fans should buy one now... really does the think that there are Nintendo fans who have been on the verge of buying it for the last 4 years but now that they are pulling the plug on the tiny amount of support that the system has gotten he thinks that it would be a good time to jump in? That would be possible if they had dropped the tablet, and its too late to do it  now... 199$ including the tablet  means that nintendo will be losing 30$ for every wii u unit sold, if not more... ( there other extra costs, like packaging )

Without the tablet we could be seeing 149-169$ prices, nowadays!

I think there is more damage being done currently to the Nintendo console brand than a $30 loss per system sold right now, that said I don't think the Wii U could ever really have been sold without the tablet, the majority of games require it in some way... or ya know it's the systems controller anyway, would be like suggesting you could sell the PS3 at a bigger profit if you remove the CELL from each unit.

With the 3ds they were able to remove an aspect of the system to cut the price in the 2ds, but I think removing the tablet from the Wii-U would be like trying to repackage the 3ds without a screen altogether.
