Will Virtual Reality resurrect Motion Controll gaming?

Yes, motion controlls wil... 7 43.75%

No, it can't come back e... 6 37.50%

The NX will have a Wii VR add-on confirmed. 3 18.75%

Total:16

Virtual Reality is the potential new trend in gaming, and it promises to be really big. The tech seems to be ready for the first time, but it seems that some of them can be complemented with other tech. In particular, I'm thinking of motion controll technology: the PS Move and Microsoft Kinect might see a new rise due to the VR tech needing them for support.

Will the VR trend push motion controlls to relevance once again, or it won't be enough to bring them back from the dead?

And will Nintendo try to do something with the Wii technology? After all, they were the most successful with the motion control tech. Wii VR, anyone?

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Didn't the motion controls and the kinect attracted casual gamers?
I dont think the PSVR price will attract them.

Well, casuals really won't pay the huge price of any kind of VR (maybe the Samsung one that costs 99$?), but if VR takes off and pushes the sales of motion controlls peripherals, people might be interested in developing motion controll games once again, this time more focused on the core market.

Also, with this kind of tech, you never know.

I think VR + normal controller will be the most common way to game in VR.

I think most dont want to stand/walk around/swing their arms about, when playing games.

You want to sit down, and use a controller.

You can do that with VR, and thus its going to be the most common way to use VR.

People are lazy. They don't want to move. So no.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

doubt it would affect a new console much at all.

Not just resurrect it, but allow it to fulfil its potential aswell.

It'll be a slow climb because VR is still very expensive, but the 2 are strongly attached. If VR becomes popular, so does motion controls.

I'd say the bottom line is 'no'. At the end of the day people will still just want to sit back and relax on the couch doing minimal movements (including head movements).

If people that use the PSVR will likely just use it to be immersed in the environment with minimal head movements of up,down, left, right and still using the Dualshock controller as their main camera movements. Because if you want to turn around completely they'll still use the controller as you can't actually turn around while you're sitting on the couch lol

It is possible that they will revive them.

In a poetic way, Virtual Reality will be the new, adult version of the Virtual Boy. Evolved in many ways, but still flawed at its core.

The concept itself is counterproductive: A lot of effort is required for the sake of a casual gaming experience, unlike the very cheap and simple Wii. It will be a niche product from start, and have an even shorter lifespan than motion controls.
