Sony Explains Discontinuation of PS Vita TV in Japan, Mentions Strong PS4 and PS Vita Sales
Yesterday, we reported that Sony Computer Entertainment is discontinuing shipments of the PS Vita in Japan, and today AV Watch reported a comment by the company on the reason for the decision:
“The role of the PlayStation Vita TV was to let people enjoy easily handheld games on their TV, and to create an opportunity to reconnect with people who distanced themselves from gaming. In the current situation, with strong sales of PS4, and also a strong PS Vita in Japan, it has played its given role.”
Thanks, Dualshockers for the info.
So what do you guys think? It seems like Sony is happy with Vita sales in Japan at least. If only they would make games for it...oh well. At least the third-party support is still strong and I'll keep supporting it as long as they keep releasing games I want.
