Do you think Sony money hatted SFV?

Considering the launch. . . YES 20 60.61%

Sony dont moneyhat because Sony do no wrong. 13 39.39%

Let’s talk about Street fighter V (Early build)

As a long term fan of the series since SF2 on the SNES, I also own Fighter Street on my Atari ST. This game gutted me big time. I have a couple of questions.

Why did Capcom decide to throw SFV in the firing line of reviews by releasing it this early? They would know based off heaps of other franchises like Battlefront and Destiny that it would get butchered hard.

I hear rumours that they wanted to get it out before the competitions start, If so thats not the best way to treat your most iconic franchise.

Another question is what happen to Sony helping them with this project? I remember reading countless posts of fans saying the reason SFV is exclusive to PS4 and PC is because Sony is helping them with this game... Where’s the help? Or did Sony decide to push this game out the gates early? If so then its not just Capcom to blame.

I am honestly lead to believe that Sony money hatted SFV as I see no proof of Sony helping them with the development of the game, and considering what MS did with TR, fans didnt want to believe that Sony would sink this low.

SFV plays great but what’s the point of having such amazing gameplay when there’s barely any game to experience it with? I love online but I am not the type of gamer to just jump in the deep end. So far this generation, Killer Instinct remains to be my favourite fighting game based off its risk taking and uniqueness (fanboyism aside) and I was hoping SFV would take that crown away from it and be the face of fighting again. Seems to me right now, start telling gamers to avoid this game until the content comes, because once you get a bad taste in your mouth it’s very hard to forget.

In the meantime, there are plenty of other good fighting games to enjoy, like Guilty Gears Xrd (84) Motal Kombat X (83) Killer Intinct S2 (85) and wait for SFV to be complete. Just my opinion.

Street Fighter V sits on an (80) on metacritic right now and is going to be torn apart even more with the heavy hitter reviews not included yet.

If you own SFV like me, hold out, if you don’t, no rush in getting it.

What are your thoughts of SFV?

Yeah the game was pushed out early for Capcom Pro Tour tis year which starts in just over a week.
I dont believe Sony ever "helped" them develop the game but merely helped pay for development. Rumour was Capcom had money issues at the time.
Also it definitely looks to be taking the approach of constant content drops to keep players attention. Something that many games do these days and have been quite successful with. TThey dont just want you $60 now but they want you to buy the $30 season pass and every other season pass they throw out for years to come.
And yes you can buy DLC characters with Fight Money but then you have none left for outfits, queue spending real money again.
Also if you've noticed with these large eSports games like LOL, Dota, CSGO its not just existing players keeping the game alive but new ones also purchasing it years later because the content keeps coming and the player base is always there.

Yeah and based on Destiny and Battlefront releasing it earlier means more money. I think the game will get constant updates making it more interesting going forward

I dont see why people have such a huge outcry, the game has plenty of content. The survival mode is pretty much your arcade mode, its the same thing. I am suprised that playing against the computer in different ways still means a lot to people in 2016? I mean where you have been when star wars came without any bot support or singleplayer campaign?

Pretty much what's been said above:

- Sony gave financial aid and done most the pr and marketing.

- Although it might not seem that way, but it feels like they made SFV very quick, possibly on a smaller budget.

- The roadmap for SFV and how it's designed to act as a fight club which will be an ongoing service for the current gen is very much like DriveClub. I can see Sony having played a hand in that and surprisingly the reviews are very similar as are the complaints.

- beating character stories gets you 160k.

- Beating survival mode on easy gets you 6k.

That's enough for 1 character, one costume and you have 20k left. This doesn't include completing any other runs on survival mode or completing daily challenges.

- It is the only fighting game that gives the option to buy cheap via season pass, buy only the character you want or to unlock for free. Not even KI gives free characters.

Like DriveClub, we will need to see whether they stick to the roadmap, whether they can keep content coming and improve every aspect of the game the way Evolution has.

So far what's been said sounds and looks promising and probably like DriveClub, it might become one of those games that becomes a good example of DLC done right, season passes done right etc.

agree on that is a bit rushed. nowadays gamers doesn't like unlocking characters. back then, tekken 3, you can finish the story of a character to unlock others and you need a memory card to save it. else you need to repeat it again. :D

Many people did, critics as well, mark it down for lack of content. It is/was MP only. You go in, shoot things up, leave (okay so I know there is more than just that but still). Considering it came out at the same time as Black Ops 3 which has a main campaign (plus variant Zombie main campaign), zombies and MP with lots of extras.

As long as they keep DLC free and any new character can be purchased with in game money which is easily earned (especially if you like playing the game anyway) then releasing it early only really harms those without the internet... those poor unfortunate souls.

Hmm, pie.

I really want it and had it preordered since it was announced but I cancelled it last week after reading the rumours that were sneaking out that the game is incomplete, there's no way I'm spending £40 on a game that isn't complete. I'm now going to wait till the first content is released. From what ice heard the gameplay is brilliant and tbh that is the main thing you want to be good.
I'll keep looking at user reviews and forum discussions as the game goes on,

I don't get the poll.. they paid for console exclusive rights. Of course they money hatted it. It's like asking if MS money hatted Tomb Raider.

Sorry, you don't know what money hatted means.

Clearly 2 different things, go inform yourself or read what Hiku said above.
