"Ubisoft makes use of a "temporal filtering" feature that has a pretty interesting impact on the game.

Essentially, this feature renders the game with half the number of pixels on each axis with an ordered grid MSAA pattern before reconstructing the image to match the final output. This is then coupled with a post-process temporal anti-aliasing solution to minimize artefacts in motion. So, at 1080p, we're technically seeing 960x540 with 2x MSAA."

Edit: The article does not specify the Xbox One's resolution beyond an end result of 900p, but if we apply the same formula, (a halving of each axis) we're looking at 800x450 with x2 MSAA.

They also say they like the compromise. I'm sure the pixel counters will be upset though. And those who still pretend that the consoles are powerful machines.

#PC Master Race

Wrong. It's actually 540p on PS4 and 450p on XB1.

That would make sense actually; Digital Foundry didn't specify, but presumably if the same process is used, Xbox One would be rendered at 800x450.

This is just unacceptable lol

I have no idea how many shading samples they're using but OP is technically incorrect ...

The game has a 1080p framebuffer on PS4 and 900p framebuffer on the X1 ...

Not my words, Digital Foundry's. The quote is taken intact from them, and the thread title excerpted from that.

Your thread title is still misleading ...

Digital Foundry: "So, at 1080p, we're technically seeing 960x540 with 2x MSAA"
