Halo did much less than expected on its famously front loaded FW. I guess Splatoon's legs in the end will score it a win. :P

Just wait and see.

So the 24% of splatoon sales in Japan are digital copies... Wow!

Although, the fact that splatoon was getting sold out in Japan very often, must have contributed  quite a lot in having so high digital sales in Japan...:P


That would actually be 18% are digital copies.

I calcualted based on 730k which is only retail, instead of 897k which is retail+digital!:P

When did ever somebody expected that? It's getting compared now, but certainly NOT at launch. Only after Nintendo announced 1.62 millions shipped til July 1st did this start to getting compared, but not even expected just yet then, that came only late august/september.

@topic: It now depends on Halo's legs. Considering it's very weak start compared to the other games in the series and first reports telling that sales basically stopped the moment CoD hit the shelves, I fear the game's legs will might fall short compared to those splatoon tentacles on the long run.


Given that Nintendo spent MK level of money marketing Splatoon, I would say Nintendo was expecting that.

Splatoon will sell well but so will Halo 5. Both great FPS games. What's your point of the comparison? Are you trying to claim 1 game being better then the other? Both exclusive for there own consoles, both different types of games and completely different atmospheres.

Halo 5 is selling well digitally and remember Halo 5 is also competing with giant games like COD, TR, Destiny, FO4 and many other big releases on X1 while Splatoon doesn't.

Sales dont tell the true story here, I personally think Halo 5 will have longer legs then Splatoon and will probably end around the 5m mark which is still a very successful game for MS and Xbox while Splatoon will probably die out around 3m. Plus Halo 5 has probably already sold more then Splatoon since there are no digital sales included here. Just my judgement and opinion here. I am personally a fan of both games but Halo is Halo.

Dude, are you serious? Nintendo reported that Splatoon is at 2.4m by the end of September. You really think the game will only sell 590k copies until the end of its life (when there's even a bundle coming out)? O.o
