The N64 was my fucking jam, and I was blessed with an uncle who had a PS1 so I got to play Crash too, I was never aware of the concept of a "console wars" as a child.

You had it all good sir.

Not a Dreamcast, though. :P Anyway, I got to play both Sonic Adventures on the GameCube, so it was all good.

I'm now filled with determination.

Not sure. Depends on whether I played the Odyssey2/Videopac G7000 or the NES first. So was either a second or a third generation console. Technically though the fourth generation was already underway when I started playing, though obviously I didn't yet realize how things worked.

I was the same way. I had no idea until years down the road that the Super Nintendo launched the same year I got my NES.

Yeah at the age of four or five, I think, I just played whatever was first handed to me. That was either my mother's old console from her own childhood or my aunt's NES. She had the NES ready to play in the attic because my aunt was an avid gamer back then. I also played the SNES with her first as well, but though I am sure she already had it fairly early on, I don't think she let me or my cousins play that system until a bit later. Since my own mother's G7000 console wasn't hooked up at our house as far as I recall, I'm leaning most towards the NES as being the first console I ever played.
