Forums - Sony Discussion - Question for PS4 owners: if the situation would be reverse? would you still play on PS4?

if the PS4 would be weaker than the Xbox One?

i would still play mainly on the PS4 229 65.24%

I would have a PS4 dueto ... 67 19.09%

I wouldnt see a reason why i should own a PS4 54 15.38%

Total:350

Lets say the PS4 would be weaker than the Xbox One,

-PS4 900p,

-Xbox One 1080p

-Exclusive and games stay all the same except that they run on higher or lower resolution.

-OS and features stay for both consoles the same

-PS4 would be the one for 350$ while Xbox One would be 400$

For me i would still play on the ps4 like i played on ps3 over the xbox 360

ps4 exclusives are much more intresting.... yeah even if the 900p vs 1080p where reversed... ps4 would still be the way to go.

If games looked and played better on Xbox One, I would play mostly exclusives on PS4. Like I do with Xbox One now.

Yes. The extra power is just a bonus. It's the exclusives and Sony's track record for taking risks with new IPs that sets them apart and makes them the most popular console manufacturer.

The PS5 Exists.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

True.

Don't copy random editorials.

Good question. I would probably still be on PS4 rather than X1 because there aren't many exclusives on X1 compared to PS4 that interest me.

Consoles will also have inferior graphics that are a pain to watch but at the end of the day you're buying them for the exclusives. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered with the Wii U.

id play both my xbox one and ps4 as much as i already do regardless.

Last gen, the 360 was for exclusives and third party games. The PS3 was for exclusives and the rare third party games that happened to run better.

This gen, the PS4 is for exclusives and third party games. The Xbox One is for exclusives and the rare multiplat that happens to run better.

So, for me, things would change but I'd still but whatever I wanted to buy.

I mostly prefer Japanese games on consoles. JRPGs, platformers, adventure, etc.  Final Fantasy, Zelda  Metroid, Tales, Castlevania, Mega Man, etc like what defined console games for generations from NES to PS2 long before Xbox invaded the console space with its PC first person shooter disease.

I had my PC shooter fix in the Quake 3, UT2004, BF2 days, I wasn't happy to come back to consoles for their difference in games only to see Xbox trying to turn consoles into western fps platforms too.

That said I couldn't complain about say Ni no Kuni being only 900p if there was no Xbox 1080p version to compare to now could I?

I do like this generation having one absolutely definitively superior platform though to make multiplatform decisions easy and consistent. 7th gen was always a chore comparing 360 vs PS3 to make sure which version of a given game was better and it was always tradeoffs one way or another.

8th gen is easy. Complete PS4 library, exclusives on XBO and Wii U. I like it that way.
