Forums - Gaming - Best Storylines/1P Experince in FPS'

First person shooters have never really been my forte; I have issues with first person view in general, it's based on real life yet feels like I'm in a box, giving it a closterfobic feel and ultimately ruining many interesting games.  I enjoyed the original Medal of Honor games back on PS1&2 though the shooter genre at the time was slightly different than it is today(most shooters feature superior AI and enemy placement in general).

All that said, high octane, fast paced, 100 man battles are interesting to watch but the clunky feel of FPS makes it impossible for me to participate.  If I were to take part in a FPS experince, it usually has to be something more deliberately slow like Dishonored or Metroid Prime.

Which leaves me with the thread topic: aside from the two I just named, what are some more story/one player focused FPS'?

I would say Half Life and Half Life 2 cause those storylines were pretty awesome

You should definitely try Half-Life 2 and BioShock! Trust me, you won't regret it!

My picks are Metroid Prime and Bioshock, though I've never played System Shock 2 or Half Life 1+2, which are critically acclaimed.

Agreed; these are among my favorite games of all time, a big part of that reason is the basic and down-to earth narration they have and atmosphere can't be beat, especially in Half-Life 2. I've never ever felt more oppressed than I did in City 17 and the characters are awesome. The only FPS' I ever played that came close in atmosphere were Bioshock, Deus Ex and possibly Call of Duty (the first one).

I loved the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare campaigns, thought it was a very entertaining series with some good twists and shocking moments.

I rarely play FPSs, but I really enjoyed the stories in Bioshock Infinite and Spec Ops: The Line.

DooM. ---> Best. Game. Ever.

There are lots of other great ones as well:

Half Life 1, 2, Far Cry 1, 4, Metro, Quake 1, 2, Redline

/edit:  Far Cry Blood Dragon was AMAZING.

Bioshock, Spec Ops The Line, Borderlands, Far Cry 3-4. I'm not a big fan of FPS either but these ones are great.
