Forums - Gaming Discussion - Based on the beta, Destiny does not live up to the hype.

Don't get me wrong, its a good game. I've already put several hours into the beta and I'll play more.

However, there is nothing ground breaking here. The controls basically feel like Halo but less responsive. The campaign missions we've see thus far aren't interesting. The story isn't compelling and seems a bit too familiar. The Borderlands campaigns did a better job at grabbing my interest.

But my biggest gripe of all... you use your campaign character (with weapons, armor, special attacks) in competitive multiplayer. I think many will agree this makes competitive multiplayer significantly less enjoyable.

Many people who play competitive multiplayer games don't even touch the campaign. Destiny essentially forces you to play the campaign even if you're just interested in competitive multiplayer. This is a huge mistake in my opinion.

I could be wrong, but I'm reluctant to believe this will be the success its being hyped to be. This doesn't seem like a GOTY contender either.

Thank god Halo:MCC is coming this year. I don't think I'll be spending as much time with Destiny's competitive multiplayer as I hoped.

That's all you focused on? That is sad.

Did you play Destiny's beta?

hehe.... Mr. Puggsly. Why am I not surprised.

Thanks for your opinion though.

Mhmm interesting.. I will be interested to see how it turns out

Oh god forbid, players have to play...single player. Oh the humanity that you have to spend collecting, looting and buffing your character outside of multiplayer. Truly, it is a crime against multiplayer gamers everywhere, if only it didn't have a campaign like that other super hyped multiplayer game, Titanfall, because clearly that was the way to go, because clearly that did not put off certain players, because CLEARLY that game lived up to its hyped and was not crushed by it.

Campaign is multiplayer, too..
And you unlock weapons/armour/experience playing PVP just as you do in PVE, so it makes very little difference if you play campaign or not.
Ironically, you can obtain much rarer and higher level equipment in the beta by playing Crucible.

So you can actually get to the measley level 5 requirement (takes litterally 10 minutes, if that) then play ONLY crucible and level up your character and equips for the rest of your time playing if you wanted to.

Are you sure you played the beta? because your biggest gripe takes completing just a single match of crucible/iron banner to debunk.
