It seems you don't know the definition of an ad. A console showing content that it offers for the user are not ads. PS4 actually has more ads than Xbox One.

LMAo no..no it does not and it's not even close......Many of the ads are not content or deals either.

Shoving stuff in my face to try to entice me to buy should be in the devices store and not the homescreen.

What's there to complain about? What's being shoved down your throat that's worth coming to VGC with complaints reminiscing torture procedures?

Gamers are the worst on the internet. If that bothers you, I'll put it like some of your friends said on the TLOU thread: "don't buy it".

It's an advice!

Cherry pick one screen proves what exactly? Many places there are many ads...stop trying to hide that fact.

Xbox fans will defend anything MS, ignore them, it is assinine to see ads all over xbox, PS and nintendo don't have any. it is just who MS is. Thye don't care about gaming never have, it was a way to get a trojan horse into the living room, luckily they showed there hand and it failed.

What's the difference?

Joke post?? That is 1 section labelled WHATS NEW, you have to go there and click it, no ads anywhere else. lol, there are zero ads anywhere else on PS consoles..anywhgere, they permeate every screen on Xbox and many are not even game releated....

Quite a lot considering that only appears when hovering over the "what's new" category. Press any direction on the D-pad and they'll completely disappear. 1 out of around 50 icons in the XMB are dedicated to advertisements, not 30 out of 50.

Also helps that those ads seem far more relevant to gamer's interests.

I only see there one advert which might not interest gamers: G.I Joe: la Venganza :P. Press the Left button or Right button and they'll completely disappear too.

Also helps that all those ads seem relevant to the gamer's interest. Especially the "Gratis" section ;)

Yet every screen on xbox has more ads, not just 1 cherry picked screen. And many are not even game related (Again obama debates, etc..).

Not on Spain I'm afraid! Maybe Microsoft encourages gaming more in Non-Microsoft dominated areas?

I don't see what the big deal is. Is it that much of a burden to click on the games tab and see all your games? If you really had a lot of games they wouldn't fit there anyway.

Lol. Hello, you have no idea about the layout of the xbox360 dashboard.

I've had a 360 that I use regularly for six years so I'm pretty sure that I do.

The panels which are set aside for advertisments do not change to show you your games from the "my games" tab regardless of having any number of retail or arcade titles, much in the same way that if you have a lot of music saved to your hard drive you dont have random mp3's around your dashboard...

If you scroll past the home and social tabs you will get to the games section of the dashboard. On the top left hand corner there is a a square with a symbol of an xbox controller and the words "My Games". If you click on this square you will see all of your games. It literally takes less than two seconds to do everything I've stated above.

You're welcome.

Doesn't change the fact that you have to go through a screen full of ads to get there. Your games should be display first and foremost, not ads.

Not a joke post.  I turned on my PS3 and that's the first screen unless I touch a controller.  Didn't click a thing.  And no, ads don't permeate every screen.  Plus there's also an option to automatically start the game in your console.

One console has ads spread out. Bad. Another console has a ton of ads in one place plus a running ticker in the top right. Good?  And, like the Xbox 360, many of the ads have nothing to do with gaming.  Yesterday, the first thing to pop us was an ad for me to buy tickets to the movie "Lucy".  Maybe it's because the PS3 doesn't really have a bunch of different screens.  Just the XMB.

*edit* Lol.

What does that have to do with number of games owned? that tab is there on a new xbox out of the packet as are the portions of each window which are dedicated to adverts. Don't start one half a statement and then start talking about something 3 tabs away, no amount of game buying makes the adverts move or go away.

End of story.

You make it seem like your traversing the amazon to get to the games tab. Its two maybe three clicks of the d-pad and one click of the a button.  You do realize you can just ignore the ads right?

Look if your issue is that you are against the ads from a principled standpoint I get that. I agree with that. But if your reason for not liking the ads is because it makes it difficult to navigate then I think thats BS.

For me personally, even if there were no ads I would still prefer for things to be sectioned off into their own corners where I click them when I want to see them. I don't want my games or movies or music just automatically loaded. Give me tabs for games , movies, music and if I want to expand I can navigate to that section. This is why I hate the ps4 interface. If I have played 10 games it just loads them all up like ducks in a row as soon as I boot up. That is annoying because a lot of times it keeps games that I've only borrowed and don't even have anymore directly on the main page where they are just taking up space for not reason.
