Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Do you like Nintendo's commitment to 60fps?

?

Yes, 60fps is the right choice 152 91.02%

No, I'd rather they targ... 14 8.38%

Since the Wii, the bulk of Nintendo's console titles have targeted 60fps in spite of their systems not being technical juggernaughts,  the most recent examples being Mario 3D World and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.

Would you rather they targeted 30fps for more graphical detail, or are you glad for their commitment to 60fps?

Depends on which game. Zeldas are usually 30 FPS so I'd like it if they went down the same route again and increased the detail. 3D Mario or Metroid however, 60fps.

Gameplay > visuals at all times.

So yes.

Yes

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

60fps works well for nintendo, how much more of a better cartoon look are you really going to get? It may as well be smooth.

There art style would not really benefit from better graphics, Mario 3d world is lovely :)
I certainly dont think they compromised to get 60fps.

With a focus on gameplay and not so demanding cartoon style graphics, I think for most of their games it's better to have a very reactive and smooth 60 fps than better graphics. I like they commit to what best fit their games. If they were to produce a state of the art FPS, 30 fps would be OK.

Depends on the game.

Depends on the game, for action/twitch games than 60FPS is important but for an RPG like X I think visuals matter more than FPS.

No doubt, framerate actually affects the gameplay, so this is a good thing to strive for.
