I've never owned a Sega console, and I've never been a fan of Sonic. But one can't deny that Sega have made some quality games down the years, and it's a credit to the company that they made the transition from Hardware seller to 3rd party software business very well. And the 7th console generation has been a pretty good one for Sega, at least insofar as game quality is concerned.

Sega was also an adventurous publisher, and so I would like to add Sega published games as contenders for the Sega GOTG.

Sega also had some pretty spectacular failures on the game from this 7th generation. It is with some shame that Sega has to accept that they had their name on some of the worst games this generation. But I won't dwell on the negative.

For me personally I am making this thread to celebrate my personal over all GOTG, not just my Sega GOTG, I'm sure you can guess what it is. Even though The Last of Us tempted me away from it, on reflection it didn't quite take its place.

To refresh you memory here is a list of top selling and top quality Sega (developed or published games) across all the 7th gen platforms.

Valkyria Chronicles (PS3)

Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 (PSP)

Bayonetta (PS360)

Yakuza 3, 4, 5 (PS3)

Virtua Figher (PS360)

Resonance of Fate (PS360)

Sonic errr whole bunch of games (every platform)

Mario and Sonic games (Wii, DS)

Vanquish (PS360)

Bleach Franchise, well some of them at least (Wii DS)

Madworld (Wii)

Phantasy Star Portable (PSP)

There are loads more of course, but that's just a wee list of the games that Sega brought or helped to bring to people's consoles.

So what's your Sega GOTG, and how does it stack up to your over all GOTG?

Sega, your games didn't sell amazing well, unfortunately, but you made (or published) some of the best games this generation.

I love Sega but I don´t like them being spread across so many platforms. Being a Sega fan is like being a Nintendo fan, it is a special dedication. But in order for me to get all their games, I suddenly have to buy several platforms, that is not ok.

Having said that, Bayonetta is incredible!

Sonic Generations. The game controls well, it's got tons of speed, and it's a great tribute to Sonic games of the past, even finding a way to make a fun level out of Sonic 06 material.

Sonic Colors is also really fun. Bayonetta is probably the most finely polished game I've played from SEGA in the 7th Gen, but I don't rank it higher personally because I'm just not as good at hack'n'slash games, and so while I enjoyed it, I wasn't able to get as much out of it as it had to offer.

I feel like the only notable Sega games I played this gen are Condemned 1 and 2.

They put out a lot of good games, but nothing outstanding in my opinion.

Easy call. Resonance of Fate was the best new RPG IP of the generation for me. Really sad that it bombed. A sequel would be awesome.

Bayonetta, Valkyria Chroinicles and Sonic Allstar Racing have a special place in my heart as well.

Vanquish by a mile. Best shooter of the generation for me.

Edit: Oh I totally forgot about Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, which is the best Arcade Racer of the generation

So it's a tie between those two.

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Top 3.

1. Sonic Generations.

2. Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed.

3. Binary Domain.

Honourable mentions........ Virtua Fighter 5, Virtua Tennis 3 (played over 900 online matches on 360), Condemned: Criminal Origins.

Bayonetta, Resonance Of Fate, and Vanquish; all of these are amongst the best of the generation. As an old SEGA fan, it's nice to see them still producing great games.

Valkyria Chronicles and Yakuza series best Sega gaems

The Valkyria Chronicles series is my favourite non-Nintendo series of all time, so that's gotta be it. The original Valkyria Chronicles is also one of the best games I played this gen overall. As I mentioned somewhere else, I can't really decide what my GotG is (I can't even come to terms with myself about things like GotY), but everytime I try to come up with one, Valkyria Chronicles comes to mind. It's pretty damn good.
