I've never owned a Sega console, and I've never been a fan of Sonic. But one can't deny that Sega have made some quality games down the years, and it's a credit to the company that they made the transition from Hardware seller to 3rd party software business very well. And the 7th console generation has been a pretty good one for Sega, at least insofar as game quality is concerned.
Sega was also an adventurous publisher, and so I would like to add Sega published games as contenders for the Sega GOTG.
Sega also had some pretty spectacular failures on the game from this 7th generation. It is with some shame that Sega has to accept that they had their name on some of the worst games this generation. But I won't dwell on the negative.
For me personally I am making this thread to celebrate my personal over all GOTG, not just my Sega GOTG, I'm sure you can guess what it is. Even though The Last of Us tempted me away from it, on reflection it didn't quite take its place.
To refresh you memory here is a list of top selling and top quality Sega (developed or published games) across all the 7th gen platforms.
Valkyria Chronicles (PS3)
Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3 (PSP)
Bayonetta (PS360)
Yakuza 3, 4, 5 (PS3)
Virtua Figher (PS360)
Resonance of Fate (PS360)
Sonic errr whole bunch of games (every platform)
Mario and Sonic games (Wii, DS)
Vanquish (PS360)
Bleach Franchise, well some of them at least (Wii DS)
Madworld (Wii)
Phantasy Star Portable (PSP)
There are loads more of course, but that's just a wee list of the games that Sega brought or helped to bring to people's consoles.
So what's your Sega GOTG, and how does it stack up to your over all GOTG?
Sega, your games didn't sell amazing well, unfortunately, but you made (or published) some of the best games this generation.
