Very glad Subnautica is getting a lot of attention. It encouraged me to finally pick it up after months/years of seeing it on the store pages, and it's a very satisfying game to play. The gameplay loop of setting out to explore until you've exhausted your fuel or filled your inventory, then returning back to base to perform maintenance and upgrades... it's very fulfilling. If anyone is looking for a new game to play and likes base-building or exploration, Subnautica is an easy recommendation.

I was going to complain it wasn't detecting my HDDs but then I realized by dumb ass didn't connect the cables to the PSU...

Wow that's an expensive motherboard. Yeah it's most likely BIOS settings, Enabling XMP in your bios may help.

Apparently it's pretty standard for DDR4 ram to default to lower clocks (2133mhz / 2400mhz)

Some dude on a forum - "RAM typically has several profiles built into it's SPD tables and will pick the default one automatically unless you go and enable XMP, my 3200 RAM set itself to 2133 initially. I enabled XMP and got 3200 but it was unstable so I set it down to 2933 and all is good."

JEMC said:
I hope you can fix your RAM problem, haxxiy. You could also check if MSI has launched a new BIOS update, just in case.

Both good points.

With my recent Gigabyte build the bios was new ish, but it wouldn't allow XMP initially and was set at 2400MHz. I hadn't messed with the bios all that much initially either. When I started tinkering more with it, I noticed it seemed bugged. Graphics were a little glitchy on certain page settings, mouse would freeze at times. The first time I went to update the bios, it froze just before I clicked the final update selection. Worked the second time and after the update everything was as it should be. No more problems. XMP worked afterwards at 2933MHz as it should.

My old Asus P5N-E SLI wouldn't fully boot into Windows the first time when I added 2 more sticks to fill all 4 slots. After a reset it worked though. Ended up reading that was fairly normal for that board apparently when you filled all 4 slots.

Not sure if all boards run the RAM slower initially, but it's pretty common for most to do so in general.

Indie game dev sees big boost in sales after he uploads it to The Pirate Bay
https://www.pcgamer.com/indie-game-dev-sees-big-boost-in-sales-after-he-uploads-it-to-the-pirate-bay/
My default position on piracy is that it's bad and you shouldn't do it. Entertainment has value, and if you are entertained then you should be willing to pay for it. That said, I also acknowledge that it's not always a simple, black-and-white situation. Which brings us to the story of Danger Gazers, "a post-apocalyptic roguelite top-down shooter" released earlier this month that saw a big boost in sales after its developer uploaded it to The Pirate Bay.

I've had... well, I guess you've got the point by now: I don't care about brands, I care about what's best for me, and if I'm given free games I want, I'll sure get them.

After seeing how Intel has been poorly reacting to AMD the past 2 years, I'm leaning more towards going for AMD CPU's going forward. I do rendering and video editing, so AMD greatly benefits me in that area. Games like Planet coaster/Zoo rely more on cores+threads for it's park guest AI, so again AMD is likely my choice for that sort of games as well.
