That

Sorry but no. You don't change it after such a long time, especially when it was never obvious which one is 'correct'. Also, I'd really like him to try to change the way people talk just because he thinks he's right. Hint: Not going to succeed. And then there's the fact that in my language (Finnish) the word's pronunciation's isn't too bad and it just happens to be the 'incorrect' one... Well, let's just say that there's no changing that. Gif, not jif.

The arguments on Twitter are baseless. You cannot try to argue anything about spelling in the English language.

That being said, I'm going to continue pronouncing it as GIF. not JIFF.

LOL. I read this on cnn about an hour ago and laughed. I always pronounced it GIF.

Pronounced it as "jiff" since the first time I saw it.

Just made more pronunciation sense to me.

Seeing as he's the creator, he's not changing it.  He's just telling those who don't say it properly the correct pronunciation.

I've always called it jif.  Calling it gif just sounded weird.  I don't see why people are so upset on using the G sound as the J sound anyways since G carries the J sound in many situations.  Giraffe,Genitals, Germ, etc, etc, etc.

He's saying the "G" is pronounced like its pronounced in the word "giraffe". But to get the sound across so easily he used the "J" letter instead.

Problem is, its commonly pronounced as a "Gah" sound, so that's how it will remain.

He is trying to change it. The pronunciation he's telling is incorrect is widely used, no matter how it was supposed to be.
