Forums - Microsoft Discussion - XBOX FANS ONLY: Did the DRM news really kill all your interest of ever getting a Xbox One?

All or nothing DRM basically means playing a game is going to cost you a full 60 dollars every time. Even if the game sucks, or takes only 6 hours to beat. 60 dollars. These companies pretend that the used eco system doesn't help the market. IT DOES.

If this is really what they want, then EVERY game better have a good demo -  a really good demo. Also, social media / reviews will become more important than ever. Also, I think this would HURT small studios, since people will be less inclined to take a risk on a new game IP than they would a "proven" franchise. This could only help big studios. (for the record, to understand this last paragraph you have to stop thinking as a minority gamer who posts on this site, and start thinking like a more mainstream gamer who has never heard of VG Chartz).

Think about it, the studio that probably wants this the most is EA. Old years of their sports games are CONSTANTLY being sold at Gamestop. You can buy Madden 12 for a fraction of the price of Madden 13. But there are a lot of people who want 13. Hence the eco system. With this new system, its not as if the people who bought only used copies are all of a sudden going to have more cash in their pockets. And people who were buying new yearly, might now start buying new every other year instead.

There is a balance, and it would be foolish to think that used game DRM will automatically = higher sales for any company let alone all companies.  You can download digital game now, why don't people?  Because it's the same price as the physical disc yet retains zero used sale value.  No thanks.

Well I only brought a 360 last year for one game, so if xbox one has even one game that I really need (JRPG) maybe I'll pick it up late in the gen. DRM doesn't matter to much to me, Sony will probably do it so ill have to live with it anyways.
