Do you see Mario as a Character or Object?

I sort of just realize something, Mario games always had great gameplay from Nintendo EAD  like Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, Mario 3D Land etc. but besides that, I always found them a bit souless sometimes. Out of all the Nintendo EAD games, the only one I find the most memorable were Galaxy 1 and Sunshine. The world in Sunshine was so fun to explore and see the personalties of Peach, Bowser and the others characters is what make the game stands out. Galaxy one, now what make that game stands out for me was the introduction of Rosalina. I found her backstory pretty interesting and the ship beauitifully design. Lately though, most of Nintendo games haven't felt ....memorable lately. 3DLand felt like a weird cash in, the NSMB series felt like unnessary cash in especially 2 and U. I personally felt developers like Next level Games and Intelligent System did a better job using Nintendo IP then Nintendo themselves, which is how we got titles like the Paper Mario Series, Mario & Luigi, Mario Skriker etc. I understand why Nintendo EAD make the games we have today ,but I feel that tactics won't last ong showing from the sales of NSMBU.

Which is why I never seen Mario as a character, I seen him more as an object, because nothing of him stands out, just the gameplay which isn't bad but I feel there some Nintendo EAD can do to evolve the franchise. I'm not saying a re-boot or anything, just something new like Sunshine with the water blaster and fun storyline. Maybe give Bowser his own game, teaming up with Peach or Mario. Try something interesting. That's why I also look forward to that new Yoshi game for the Wii U as well. I came across a video that does a good job explaining what I'm talking about. If you can, please give it a watch before you post.

You mean Nintendo EAD?

NOA = Nintendo of America

OT: I see Mario as more of an object and Luigi as a character, which is why I prefer Luigi. It is understandable though that they choose to keep Mario bland; if you don't like his personality, you'll either have to get used to it or quit buying 'annoying' Mario games.

I like the way they have tried to flesh out Luigi's character in the Luigi's mansion games.

It would be very cool to see a new 3D Mario game where Mario and Luigi have a brotherly rivalry and you can choose either one,or even make a FLUDD/Poltergust coop puzzle game like Mansion for the WiiU.

Edit: You could also use the same reasoning for Link as well.

I really like Nintendo new IP for the eShop Dillon's Rolling Western and glad their going deep into this (hopefully) new franchise.

I see him as polygons and sometimes sprites.

Seriously though Mario was never created with the intention of standing out remember he was 'Jumpman' so nintendo just stuck with that simplistic idea from the 80's, and in the 80's character development was not important.

Also I don't think another sunshine game would be beneficial to the wiiU at this point after all it is probably one of the least liked mainline mario games.

mario is a character and an object. He is a huge global franchise and by reports he is more reconizible to kids today then mickey mouse or bugs bunny.
