Really should've bought some Nokia stock in September :P

Gah, should've known you actually did. :D Kinda pondering whether it's still worth it or not.

Well. It is still down a hell of a lot from its peak. Who knows? It's very unlikely to get anywhere near that peak ever again though. Cant remember what I paid now. I must check. |
Heh, I am not expecting it to go anywhere near 40 again either, but if it's likely to go at least above 6 again within 12-18 months I may still be interested, must look into this tomorrow.

I don't think it's quite that simple. If Apple wanted to build an iPhone for China Mobile, they certainly could (see CDMA iPhone 4).
I think the larger problem is that China Mobile doesn't want to lose control of the user to Apple. There are a few carriers around the world who just don't want to lose control (and the money that comes from that control), and China Mobile is one of them. NTT DoCoMo is another. Verizon used to be one.
Holdouts tend to bleed subscribers to rival carriers that do carry the iPhone, so eventually I'd expect China Mobile to cave. They might be able to wrangle a few concessions out of Apple first, though. Anyway, there's no point in Apple building phones that support SCDMA until China Mobile's on board.

Woohoo! I bought Nokia shares at 2.20 about a month ago.

My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right

Err, that's a massive drop for Apple and a massive gain for Nokia in relative terms, also my stats say: 12.79% for Nokia :P

No...Apples shares didn't drop for the same reason Nokias went up.
I thought Apple bottomed out at 548 today, so I bought some. Now they're at 539. 539 for Apple is an absolute steal, but they'll jump a bit tomorrow when the market opens.

equates to a $25bn drop in the value of Apple. (its only $509bn now. lol) |
I'm not stock expert, and would never claim to be, but Apple and Google have always seem massively overpriced to me.

This isn't going to be a hyuuuugggee deal for Nokia, as china still doesn't have a lot of income and it's market of smartphones tends to be like a lot of developing countries, primarily a low-end market. But all the same that's good for Nokia I guess.
