Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii U GamePad Is Also A Nifty Universal TV Remote

Positive news for me, since I don't have a remote for my TV. It is very annoying indeed to change sources.

I would not use so huge remote. Looks uncomfortable.

Not sure if serious.... but have you used teh gamepad yet? Its a great size, comfortable, and very light.

Have you ever used a tv remote that size? As a gamepad it will most likely be comfortable, but not as a remote.

and for those people who whined something about my posts:

I don't care about your opinions.

Logitech Harmony 1100:

 Screen size  8.9cm / 3.5"
 Dimensions  26.9cm x 19.3cm x 8.12cm / 10.6" x 7.6" x 3.2" *
 Weight  0.31 Kg / 0.7 lbs
 RRP  £259 / €299 / $349.99

* Depth probably takes the charging cradle into account, but it does look chunky in pictures

Wii UPad:

 Screen size  15.7cm / 6.2"
 Dimensions  25.9cm x 13.4cm x 2.2cm / 10.2" x 5.3" x 0.9"
 Weight  0.5 Kg / 1.1 lbs
 RRP  £250 / €299 / $299 *

* WITH FREE GAMES CONSOLE

People's experience of the controller with regards to comfort and weight has been positive. This will be an appealing feature.

EDIT: Updated for table-based niceness

WHERE IS MY KORORINPA 3

So, have you used that? I would not buy that one, it looks very uncomfortable.

I had the opportunity to use a "luxury remote", courtesy of a neighbour who expresses himself via the medium of technology purchases. While it wasn't a Logitech, the ergonomics were almost identical, and that is something which these gadgets have in common with tablet devices.

If you ever get the chance, you should try these things and see if the experience confirms or dispels your doubts. As a salesman, this is vital knowledge that you should impart to your 5 potential customers.

Wow. I honestly had no idea that this is how universal TV remotes look like now. The last time I've ever used one ... they still really looked like more standard remotes. I guess this is a whole new market that Nintendo can tap into here! I can't believe how ridiculously expensive they are.

Except for that whole thing where Nintendo refuses to let us use the Wii U to play BluRay...

Does anyone know if I connect an external harddrive with movies on it, if it'll be able to play movies off of it? Sigh.

Gamepad does everything!

so when it says "Universal Remote" does that mean I can use it to control my TV and my receiver?
