Forums - Sony - Don't worry PSVITA owners, Huge games in development.

In an interview with Lumines: Electronic Symphony producer James Mielke conducted by IGN's sister site 1UP, some rather interesting news was revealed about the status of upcoming PlayStation Vita games in the works in Japan.

Addressing concerns about Vita's long-term health in the face of concerns around pricing, complaints about needing to purchase additional memory units, or any of the other issues that naysayers have raised, he gave a rather confident response on Sony's behalf:

"The only thing that is going to hold Sony back from succeeding with the Vita is having the right games," Mielke said. "And one of the benefits of working on the developer side in Japan is I know for a fact that they've got some games that, when they announce them, people are going to forget about all of the problems that they're imagining with the Vita."

Those are some big words, and should fill early Vita adopters with some confidence that a deluge of announcements may be right around the corner.

While that may be what current owners want to hear, it is not really true ...

It's nice to hear Sony is still handling the ship, but would boost more confident if he said they were for this year. They really like to take a long time to release some games.

Phew, thought this was going to be another one of those 'check out this Free for download shovelware guys so funny' kinds of threads.

Also i don't know about that. Japan isn't usually swayed by new IPs, so unless it's a Dragon Quest game which I doubt it, Japanese heads won't be turning away from the 3DS anytime soon.

I'm still playing games, plus all the psp games I never played I'm fine until the second half of the year

OT: captain obvious for anyone with a brain really

Well Sony would have to be really stupid to have not been shouting at Sqaure Enix to get working on Final Fantasy, so while it is not out of the question, the games will come of course

What I really want first of all is for them to bring across UMD passport, or at the very least allow me to play my PSone games on my Vita, or else I am going to run out before too long

I know I"m not even considering getting a Vita right now. Just no games that make it a must-buy for me...besides some great PS3 games coming this year. I'm gonna be really busy.

See that is why I am still on the fence about the Vita purchase at this time. It doesn't seem to have strong enough library for my tastes. The main reason for me to get Vita right now is PSP titles and Gravity Daze, and I need more than that.

Between the 3DS, PS3, and even Wii (Xenoblade, and Last Story), I really don't seem to have strong reason to pick up the device, but as soon as one of the said big titles is announced and RELEASED, it will be a no brainer for me. (I'm not into Western Titles on the handheld).

Then you are in luck. The guy here is referencing Japanese games that are in the works.

I know he is, but however these titles need to be actually announced and released. I know when it comes to Vita it won't have shortage of western titles (Sony First Party, and some strong Third Party titles), but right now it looks to be lacking strong Japanese titles.
