It certainly encourages people to be active on the forums. Someone may for example voice their opinion on a topic that they normally wouldn't. This could be a good thing or a bad thing, depending on the user. Still, posts need to have content. If I see a bunch of single line replies to topics popping up on your account without any content then I'm not going to be very lenient. Try to think of something worthwhile to say in order to build your vg$.
