Rumor: Dark Souls players punished for playing early

According to Japanese gaming blog Esuteru, folks who managed to grab illicit, pre-launch copies of Dark Souls are being punished by developer From Software. The site says that members of the dev team are dropping horrifically overpowered, maximum level Black Phantoms into the environments of players who grabbed their copy of the game through a retailer that broke street date.

We're having a hard time corroborating the story, but it certainly sounds like something which the characteristically cruel From Software would do. In fact, we'd be surprised if those players even picked up on the retribution. They probably assumed their constant, repeated defeat was just par for the course.

I'm actually hoping they bring this to the uk as I will be getting mine 1 day early, this is a brilliant idea.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

Wouldn't mind if they keep these overhauled monsters even on launch date. Demon's Souls only started being really unforgiving on World 2, most of World 1 was "easy" (except for those who thought you could take the Red Eyes on right from the start ).

You could, but I think it works kinda like Demon's Souls. If you were connected and logged in the online part of the game, even if you disconnected, your WT would still be the same as when you were playing online.

So if Dark Souls keeps a similar scheme, then they're pretty much stuck with that overhauled difficulty (Pure Black Tendency on Demon's Souls).

Every time you go online, I think your WT resets.

Plus, PBWT FTW. I love me some BP Golden Skeletons!

It doesn't entirely reset, it just averages with the entire WT of every player online at the time. So if From Software is forcing an online WT (like Pure Black or Pure White events), it will reset to that WT.

BP Golden Skeletons were awesome....if you didn't have to grind them for hours to get a Pure Bladestone >_> >_> >_> >_> >_< X_X

So, if you found out that they did this. You could unplug before starting the game.

Hooray!

I might be confused though.
Batman is rude, for getting delayed on PC. So I'm going to get this instead, and then skyrim. And that should last a while. :)
