Even for Gran Turismo 5 or SOE's supposedly Halo Killer Killzone 3, there weren't lots of ads pre-release. Sony doesn't pump enough pre-release ads like xbox games i.e. Halo or Gears of War series. And usually those sony TV ads are on Spike TV or during commercials of gametrailers, unseen by normal American viewers.

The Uncharted 3 ad blitz is starting in the 1st NFL game Saints-Packers tonite on primetime NBC. Finally some advertisements on primetime network TV with more normal mainstream viewers.

I understand the GT5 case... the game just not need ads... but for Uncharted 3 it's great... the game is so much good and Sony needs to explorer it.

Gran Turismo 5 has sold 1.8 million in the Americas so far (6.5 worldwide)

Uncharted 2 has sold 2.5 million in the Americas (4.8 worldwide)

Even Uncharted Drake's Fortune sold 1.8 million in the Americas (3.7 worldwide)

Fact is Uncharted is just huge

Any gran turismo sold around 2-2.5 million in Americas except GT3 due the heavly bundles. So GT5 sold ok in Americas tracking above GT4.

There are more market in US for Uncharted than Gran Turismo .

Pre-order number for Uncharted 3 is low, but usually most PS3 games in US are low. Hopefully this will add some hype. Still the best pre-release hype advertisement (it was close to 2 mins) as the Mass Effect 2 cinematic tv commercial during the Saints-Vikings NFC championship game 2 years ago.
