I'm just making my first and big prediction on VGChartz following the same scheme of BHR-3's famous predictions (I hope to have the same luck).

So what my prediction?

Sony will ship 10 million copies of GT5 until September 30th, 2012 (before celebrates two years).

Many factors should help this number happen like: PS3 price cut, GT5 price cut, bundles, etc... it's probable and I think that will happen.

For reference I'm listing here the shipped history of Gran Turismo 4 (I don't have all data).

GT4 need near 3 years to top 10 million but now GT5 is tracking way better than it because shipped almost the same amount of GT4's 6 months in just 6 weeks.

So my prediction in numbers quarter by quarter:

Finally what do you think about that? I'm crazy or just overestimating GT5.

I believe in Sony....              GT5 = 14.2 million lifetime sales (IMO).

It will possibly be heavily bundled at the end of this Year, a GT5/LBP2 bundle would be great for the PS3 IMO... Very appealing to the casual customer.

Anyway...

As for the level of bundling, and how it can help out a game. Take Forza 3 as an example. Same genre. The competitions big racer. This Holiday season it was bundled with the 360 with the Alan Wake card. It sold 1.35 Million units with that bundle. That's... Huge. Gran Turismo 5 being a bigger name globally could do those numbers, probably more, if Sony pushed the bundles out enough.

I don't think they will, personally.

We should (Could) be looking at about or over 8.5 Million copies of GT5 by the end of the Year. If Sony bundle it. It's a big if though, as we all know Sony don't exactly do "brainy".

I don't think sony will start bundling GT5 soon. This game has a lot of selling potential over at least one more holiday season considering it has essentially no competition on the ps3 system. I think it will reach around 7.5-8 shipped by the end of this year. Then if they decide to bundle it at all it will be the holidays after that and only in America and Japan. LTD sales will depend on how long GT5 sells in Americas and Japan. If bundled I think 12-13mil lifetime, if not bundled around 10mil.

PD will ship more than 10 million GT5. 3.7 million to go, this is the fastest selling GT game to date I think. GT3 might be faster.

Not a bad prediction at all. I think its going to ship 10 million anyway, its going to be bundled this holiday season, I am sure of it.
