Now to the more important point. Saying that NSMBwii rapes LBP as a platformer is simply absurd to the point of comical.  While I agree that LBP can be glitchy at times, it is better in any category I can think of with the possible exceptions of crisp control.  And even that is such a small disadvantage that it is almost unnoticable.  Let's see, to list a few things that LBP does better: visuals, scope, soundtrack, replayability, variety, multiplayer, customability, physics, presentation.......   Don't get me wrong, I love NSMBwii with a nostalgic passion that I have for no other.  But to be honest, it is a last gen upgrade to Super Mario Bros. 3 and just can't compete with LBP on, ALMOST, any front.

This topic is so much more interesting than motion controls for casuals :)

I own LBP and not NSMBWii (though I did borrow it for 5 weeks).  LBP is a fun game and there is a lot to do.  The platforming controls are not equal to SMB 1 on NES, though.  NSMBWii has great platforming controls.  I guess it depends on what you want out of a game.  I like both games but for different things.  LBP is innovative and interesting.  NSMBWii is a lot of fun with my friends.

Well I definitely see non-gamers being intrigued by the Natal. So I'm gonna say Natal.

I see non-gamers actually buying the Wii, and haven't noticed this trend of non-gamers being intrigued by natal. The only people I see intrigued by natal are the gaming press, and x-box owners. Saying people are intrigued is sort of conjecture. Wii sales are real.

Also, I don't see anybody being interested in playing games that don't require you to hold something. People like tactile feel, and the idea of holding your arms out for a camera to register you WILL be awkward, and tiring, if you're doing something like a driving game. Whereas the Wii wheel you can keep your hands down on your lap if you want. Also, what happens if you have an itch, twitch, or decide to stand in the middle of a game without pausing? These kinds of things seem completely impractical, which is why I think Natal is a great idea on paper, but not in reality.

I see non-gamers buying nothing. That's why they are called non-gamers.

The Natal is unique technology and non-gamers will be impressed by it. You'll see crowds around it when they start putting up displays at Malls and retailers.

I'm not saying the Natal will be superior than controllers and I'm not saying its ideal for every genre. But it has a lot of potential for some genres (racing, golf, bowling, etc) and will be cheap for multiplayer gaming.

i have no opinion i just wanted to read the posts since the move wasnt an option... but i voted for natal for the hell of it :)

actually i wanna change my answer to the wiimote since ive never used natal before n may never do so... although i dislike just about every game on the wii (just my opinion dont shoot me) the motion controls work fine they just fail to interest me much the same as im sure natal will... i want good games more than new controls

Wii-mote: it's out and has playable games.

Its complicated with up to 3 physical accessories each needing to be charged of a single remaining USB port, doesn't have Nintendo games and its more expensive than either systems, especially after the controller price is considered so its definately not casual friendly.

The only one that doesn't have 3 accessories is Natal, Wii has the Reciever, The Wiimote, and the Nunchuk.

The Ps3 has the PSEye, the Move, and the subcontroller

Not to mention I would rather have rechargable controllers over haveing to buy AA batteries everytime I run out, They haven't even announced the price yet(they said the starter will be UNDER $100, never said near $100. Let me clarify what Sony has to match Nintendo games

Mario = Little Big Planet

Zelda = The Last Guardian(Team ICO game)

Wii Sports = Sports Champions

and many more that are unannounced, you simply can't jump to conclusions without knowing any of the details.

The nunchuck plugs into the Wiimote so its counted as one. I was counting two Sony wands + either controller OR Sony upchuck for a single person to get the full experience, therefore 3. The thing is it doubles the number of connected devices and halves the number of available charging ports and you cannot play whilst plugged in.

People have rechargeable batteries, they are easy to use.

As for the games I will sum it up like this. If they sell 15% cumulative against the games you match them against I will be surprised.

It doesn't make a difference how many pieces or batteries it takes, or whether or not Sony's games can match the sales of Nintendo's (they won't).  Sony's Move is still marketed as a casual contender too.  Period.

kias and porches are all marketed as car contenders but must we speculate about which is better?

What about PS Move? it deserves a poll option, it already has more developers than Natal, it has 20 first party and 36 third party developers.

lol i think it was rolstoppable who complained about this and i found it weird at first (i'm new here) but i purposely entered this thread to see how many posts it would take before the playstation controller would be mentioned.. lol 2nd response. pretty impressive

he's asking about a comparison between the natal and the wiimote, why does the ps3 controller need to be brought up? if you wanna discuss it make another thread about it. maybe he's only got an xbox and a wii and wants to know which is better. maybe he's allergic to shiny glowing balls and considers the ps arc (move doesn't really sound like an object, does it? i'm not comfortable saying it) no good and therefore the obvious worst one.

and as for the OP, I think it was Netyaroze who said it. pretty pointless topic. you're comparing the wiimote to something we know practically nothing about and totally disregarding the ps3 controller because you asked which is the best casual controller, i don't see how the price, 3 complicated accesories (o noes. my brain hurts too much), and lack of nintendo games (thanks for pointing out ps3 didn't make nintendo games for all those who didn't know btw. i was pretty peed off when i started up my ps3 and slipped in twilight princess and the tv screen laughed at me and the disc came flying out n hit me in the head) all play a role in the concept and ideas the ps controller will employ to attract the casual market.

oh and the only reason i bring this up is cuz im guessing you were trying to attract the ps3 "fanboys" to come in n mention their beloved ps move

Oh please. That's just bs. Look at the thread title again will you?

To be blunt: Flame on.

had you actually read my post you'd see i clearly said the thread was meant as flame bait... it nonetheless doesn't excuse ppl for coming into a discussion that doesn't involve what they wanna talk about or to be stupid enough to fall for and add to the fire, satisfying the original poster's need to isolate ps3 fans.

my point was ignore the pointless thread. go look for an actual discussion or make one of your own

My point wasn't debating which is better.

It was pointing out the omission of the Move as a casual-friendly device for completely illogical reasons...
