Forums - General - I did something really stupid last night...

I'm in so much pain now.

So anyway last night I was together with a bunch of my friends and we were all drinking. So one thing lead to another and all of a sudden most of us stripped down half naked and ran outside (NOTE: There was a couple feet of snow outside and it was about -30 celcius or -22 Fahrenheit) around the house. So everyone ran into the house really cold (oh and we were bare feet) and I didn't mind it at all. So I started to show off a little and said I could of been out there a lot longer, and that got one of my friends saying the same thing. So I came up with a contest of who can stand outside bare feet the longest and 4 of us (counting me) went a long with it.

So we all went outside lol one guy slipped and fell the second he went outside then he got up and ran into the house. So it was three of us left, another guy was running around and said he'll try to make 2 minutes. So 2 minutes went by and he ran into the house, down to me and another guy (both of us are very stuborned). So we stayed out there for another 8 minutes (10 minutes total) and we both agreed to go in the house at the same time before we lose are feet. So a little after that when my feet was thawing it started to hurt a bit but nothing serious, and then after that we all went to sleep.

I woke up this morning with a extremely intense pain in my feet, I can hardly get up and I can barely walk at all (same as my other friend), and in about 3 hours I'll be going to a Guns & Roses concert and I have floor tickets so I'll have to stand up the whole time in this intense pain and I'm getting worried that my feet my but f*cked for good...

(oh yeh and on the way home I got my car stuck in my friends ditch so my cars f*cked to)...

I'm amazed at how smart I am.

You should have soaked them in hot water as soon as you got in. Edit: For specificity, soaking them in water that was abou 105 degrees Fahrenheit - comfortable on unaffected parts of your skin - probably would have helped. And hurt like Hell, because that's what rewarming does

Is it a sharp pain, kind of like you hit them with a hammer a couple of minutes ago?

^Very sharp pain, feels like I'm walking on the nerves of my feet and when I touch them it's a tingly pain as well.

You probably had some early stage of frostbite. You need to see a doctor to make sure, but if it was only as bad as I what I did to my thumb (earliest stage of frostbite there is, which sets in earlier in digits than in your limbs) then your feet sould be okay in about 24 hours.

See a doctor, though. Make sure.

But in this case, pain is a good thing. It means you don't have any nerve damage and the tissue isn't dead.

pain is a good sign. it means all your nerves arent dead.

^Well that's good to know, now I just got to find a way to walk normal

Should I even be walking, would it heal faster if I was off my feet?

No clue. Try Googling it.

Or call a doctor.

You COULD try soaking your feet in hot water now but I don't know if it would do any good.

Seriously, call a doctor. Your feet could still be damaged and you might be damaging them further by standing on them for hours and hours before they've had time to heal.

At -10 fahrenheit, frostbite only takes 15 minutes to set into exposed skin. It just gets worse from there, you got frostbite! Go to doctor!

"You should have soaked them in hot water as soon as you got in."

That's the last thing you should do, you'll get chill burn. No what you should have done wrap them in towels and gradually got the temperature up, or you know, not doing stupid things in the first place.

I think the stupidest thing was driving ur car home drunk D:
