This looks more along the lines of the direction I want to see with the Metroid than the Prime games. I missed Dread since it came out on 3DS after I put it down for good. However I have a few questions for anyone with any time:

1. What is the structure like? More linear like the Prime games, or more open-ended like Metroid 1? (If you’re not familiar, it had a Breath of the Wild type structure where there was this small pool section to instead of a tutorial before letting you out in the lake, which allowed you to go mostly everywhere from the start.

2. How about the tension/suspense; Metroid 1 had the consequences of getting crushed meaning a lot of grinding which induced a lot of tension before going into the next room, but did the game ever have that kind of fear of some kind of consequence… even if it’s just a shift in general tome or a Resident Evil 2 style jump scare? However the game does it.

3. I think this goes without saying, but would it be fair to say the game is a lot more lively than the Prime games?

Dread was a Switch release, you may be thinking of samus returns.

Dread is on the more linear side. Although it still has plenty of exploration.

It has a lot of tension. It has sections where you are hunted by a robots that can't be killed until you find a particular weapon in that section. If they catch you, you have an extremely brief moment to escape, but it is almost impossible to consistently do. The weapon you find also has a long charge up phase which increases tension since you have to charge it while the robot is running at you.

Definitely more lively than the prime games. The movement and speed are the best in the series.

And the boss fights are absolutely next level!
