For quite a bit of consoles that would be a massive flaw. I wish PS4 did have it, at least for some PS1 and PS2 games (and include CD functionality so PS1 games would be possible to read).

PS4 had such an elite library that I indeed consider no backwards compatibility as just a small flaw.
