I actually think there's a good chance that a lot of the Switch 1 audience will remain active for years to come; many will of course upgrade, but for a lot of the expanded audience who play cosy games, indies, or just those wedded to a particular forever game like Tomodachi Life or Stardew Valley or what have you, the system is still a viable platform and will remain so long after major software moves on.

It has a very large base and that won't dry up over night, especially when economic factors are leading people to stick with their old consoles for longer and longer in general.

I don't think it'll dry up over night or anything like that, I just expect it to decline faster than the PS4's user base has. Though since this will get a definitive answer eventually I guess we can just agree to disagree and see what happens.
