I don't think this is true. Star fox lore isn't that dense and they can also just reboot it with an entirely original game without references to 64.

I'm with Angrypoolman in that they could of easily just made an original starfox game although this is a fair bit cheaper to do and easier to outsource.

Exactly what im trying to say. It wouldnt be that hard to just... make new levels. They already did most of the hard work why not go all the way with it? Theyre not even advertising it as Star Fox 64, they just call it "Star Fox." Its almost as if they're trying to get away with something.

And if a new game is announced in a year or two, we will this new Star Fox game that is mostly a level pack, and we can thank the Mario Galaxy movie and this third remake of SF64 for its existence.

Just so everyone knows, a new Star Fox game that is mostly a level pack is exactly what I've been wanting for 30 years. Throw in some new ideas like new vehicles and upgrades, character stats and specials and roguelike elements, and I'll be a happy man. That's basically what Star Fox 2 is when you think about it. Nintendo could pretty much remake that.
