This was my point, yes.  SNY seems totally OK with this.

I wouldn't say they're totally okay with it, which is why the PS5 was on sale for less than $400 between November-January earlier this winter. They made notable losses on those sales and noted it in their fiscal report but it was clearly a last ditch attempt to get PS5s to as many people as possible before further cost increases.

Ultimately they're able to ride it because it is the end of a gen and there are 90million people out there which counts as a complete userbase even if they didn't sell another PS5.
