Not claiming that's why Supergirl failed (heck, most DC movies with male superheroes not called Superman have bombed lately), or that it was in any way a good movie. Just, you know, pointing something out.

To be fair, this unfortunate back-and-forth has been going on for at least a decade now, and it could be avoided with quality control. We have a glut of mediocre-to-poor big-budget movies, so naturally people will capitalize on criticising them.
