This is crazy talk to me.
I'm not that far (just got the lava canon). But the art & presentation alone makes it better then a lot of trash we got during Wii/ds days and a lot more thoughtful than a lot of GameCube era filler.
Hell it's even better than Kirby Forgotten lands which is good but ultimately a bit basic in level design, platforming and combat.
The core gameplay loop in Metroid is still great and works well even if it hasn't evolved. The story has always been meh and it's just about the tone and world building which Prime 4 mostly retains outside of some annoying Miles moments
Its easily the best controlling and feeling Metroid, so I just can't take these arguments it's "bad" seriously. It's a 7/10 at least.
