| KLXVER said: A thing we havent really talked much about when it comes to the MS and Xbox situation is Rare. I mean maybe Nintendo should make an offer to acquire them. I think it would help Nintendo out with more constant releases. Rare has always been very efficient. I mean they released like 13 N64 games in 5 years. I would like to see them being merged with Retro Studios to work on Banjo-Kazooie, Donkey Kong, Conker, Battletoads etc... Maybe even get Double Fine and make Fine Rare Retro Studios(or whatever.lol). I think that would be a team like no other. The creativity and experience of those teams would be something else. Also a lot of gamers have been wanting Rare back to Nintendo for like 20 years and would really give Nintendo some much needed good publicity. |
I think Rare has given Microsoft one of their biggest hits in years in Sea of Thieves, so they're not in danger although they may have layoffs. It's a shame their new IP got cancelled though
I think people are speaking too negatively on them though. Their output during the 360 years was still great, even their kinect stuff is fun & fulfils their goals.
They've fallen into the modern day trap of successful live service game draining resources and cancelled project putting years to waste, so we haven't seen much from them this gen. As far as Banjo is concerned, I think Toys for Bob is a more interesting developer for that now or outsourcing it to another developer. Prior to Asha's reorg of Xbox, any future Banjo title would definitely be coming to Nintendo & PlayStation, but I think it won't be long before that multiplat strategy returns. There's little value in buying rare and I do think we will see a new banjo title (multiplat) before the decade is up.
