If this is another reskin with few quality of life updates to the game similar to the 3DS version I don't think it would be presented in any higher regard than the HD remakes of Wind Waker, Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword. As it is it seems to be Nintendo's big holiday release.

Yeah, I think story changes will come that will incorporate lore that ties in and aligns with later games in the series. 1996 Nintendo/Miyamoto didn't care about the Zelda timeline at all, whereas 2026 Nintendo puts a little more care into tying everything together.
